3D Modelling with Onshape : Designing your own parts

$75.00

3D modelling can be a daunting topic to jump into but it doesn’t have to be! This introductory workshop covers the basics of spatial thinking, computer aided design, and creating 3D models that can be turned into physical objects. Onshape is a great (free!) program to learn 3D modelling in. The skills and knowledge you will gain can be relatively easily transferred to many other 3D modelling softwares. This workshop is taught in a clear, step by step process that will give you the tools you need to make your own models and designs!

Class Goal: By the end of the class students will have learned a knew way to think …in 3D! By learning how to design step by step, students will feel confident using the onshape interface and navigating a 3D workspace. Students will learn how to draw 2D schematics in a 3D space with an easy to follow conception to result process.

Onshape is a fantastic free modelling program intended for designing parts and shapes for things like machines or assemblies. If you are interested in 3D modelling for art, sculpture or other organic designs please check out our 3D modelling with Blender workshop!

About the Instructor:

Doug Chan , Director and Co-founder at Maker Cube

Doug is an accomplished engineer and serial entrepreneur, with an enthusiasm for technology and rapid prototyping. Previously working in several start-ups, he has delved into many fields of fabrication both traditional and modern. Doug has more than a decade of experience in 3D modelling and computer aided design (CAD) for both work and play. He started modelling with Blender3D during a highschool summer camp to make his own 3D games and quickly became enamored with it. By senior year he was teaching his own class of his peers how to make models, animations and games. Picking up several more CAD programs in university, Doug has expanded his repertoire to be able to quickly design models for real world applications and fabrication processes.
