Electronics and Programming

This introductory class dives into the wonderful world of electronics and programming. With our entry level micro bit kits, participants can learn how to program commands and explore electronics!

What is a micro:bit? It is a handheld, programmable,  micro-computer that can be used for all sorts of cool creations, from robotics to musical instruments- the possibilities are endless! It can be coded from any web browser in Blocks, Javascript, Python, Scratch and more!

Class Goals: By the end of the class participants will learn how to interface electronic hardware through software programming, feel confident in the fundamentals of programming logic and structures, and be introduced to low power electronic circuits.

Duration: 3 hours – please arrive 15 minutes before the class to ensure we can get started on time!

You have an interest in electronics and robotics

You wish to explore programming and it’s capabilities

The idea of having Tony Stark’s house set up is intriguing

Prerequisites :

  • Required – Basic computer competency (how to use a computer, browse the internet)

Tools Used: micro:bit, Microsoft MakeCode

About the instructor :


Doug Chan, Director And Co-Founder At Maker Cube

Doug is an accomplished engineer and serial entrepreneur, with an aptitude for technology and rapid prototyping. Previously working in several start-ups, he has experience in many fields of fabrication both traditional and modern. Using 3D printing for work and play, Doug has 4 years of experience working with 3D printers, and more than a decade of experience in 3D modelling and CAD. His favorite project was using 3D printing to create molds for casting silicone, polyurethane and resin sculptures.


What is the age limit for the class?
The minimum age for participants is 8 with a participating guardian or 16 otherwise.

Where can I park ?
Maker Cube’s parking lot has ample space available. Should the lot reach capacity, there is street parking along 206A St.

How do I cancel or reschedule a class?
Refunds or credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified by email to [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance of the class. No refunds will be provided for late cancellation, but we do offer a 50% credit towards a future class.

Please arrive 10 minutes before class for sign-in and to ensure it starts on time, those arriving more than 5 minutes late will not be able to attend.
