Every membership contributes $10/month towards the Tool Fund contribution.

The Tool Fund is a shared financial pool designed to cover tool repairs due to accidental damage, handle ongoing tool maintenance and upkeep, replace or rebuild essential tools in the shop, and invest in equipment upgrades.

Do I have to take the intro to woodworking class to use the facility?

All members must participate in the Intro to Woodworking orientation class for general safety, regardless of previous experience prior to using any part of the facilities

Do prior certifications let me skip orientations?

We value your experience, but our orientations are required. They cover Maker Cube-specific safety procedures, shop policies, and expectations. Different shops do things differently; a short orientation ensures we’re all aligned and safe.

Who can operate tools?

Every operator must have their own active Maker Passport and complete the corresponding orientations. (Safety and accountability first)

Can I bring a guest?

Guests are welcome to observe, but are not permitted to use any tools in the facility until they take the orientations and hold their own Maker Passport.

What type of Personal Protective Equipment do I need?

Closed-toe shoes and safety glasses are required at all times. Dust masks are highly recommended when you are working with any fine particulates, and hearing protection is highly recommended when working in the Wood Shop and Metal Shop. If you have your own safety glasses, you can purchase a pair at reception!

Pair your Maker Passport with a package to get a free pair of safety glasses!
