Make Your Own Sushi Platter Set

Unwind and get hands-on in our adults-only pottery handbuilding class—no wheel required. Design a sushi platter set while learning slab-building fundamentals, scoring and slipping, clean edge shaping, and basic texture carving. Terms and Conditions

Membership is billed monthly through Pre-Authorized Credit. Membership upgrades will take effect on your next billing cycle. Cancellation period is 15 days prior to next renewal cycle. Pay-Per-Use and booking overages are paid day of. All members are required to pay $30 for their Personal Access Key fob. Members are required to take tool/workshop orientation(s) at an additional cost prior to usage, including Intro to Woodworking as a mandatory general safety class. Passport memberships are ineligible for studio or office-space rentals.

Full Kiln Private Firing

Full kiln firing allows adjusting cone settings from 022 to 6

Typical run time is 12 hours plus 24 hours of cooldown and must be scheduled in advanced around our communal firings

Kiln Specifications

  • 3 phase Skutt Kiln Master 1227
  • Communal Bisque Fires: Cone 06
  • Communal Glase Fires: Cone 5.5 (Cone 5 with 45min hold)
  • The kiln is loaded and fired by Maker Cube staff only
  • Approximately 28 in. x 28 in. opening and 27 in. high: 9.9 cubic feet, 50 bowls
  • Fits 8 half shelves at 6″ spacing

Drop-Off Information

  • All greenware must be bone-dry upon arrival. Pieces that are not 100% dry will be denied from the firing, and must be taken home.
  • All glazeware should take adequate precaution to avoid dripping onto the kiln shelves
  • All pieces must be able to sit flat and stable without support.
  • To ensure consistent firing of all pieces, we only allow the use of mid-fire stoneware clay and glazes.

Firing Terms and Agreement

Liability Notice:
Maker Cube is not responsible for anything that happens during kiln firings due to the kiln’s unpredictability.
Maker Cube is not responsible for pieces damaged due to reasons noted below:

  • The owner of each piece fired is responsible for any kiln or shelf damage caused by defects in their work including damages from explosions during bisque or glaze, glaze drips, or running onto shelf, unstable pieces, etc.
  • Any damages that occur will be subject to a damage fee this is to be determined at the time of damage occurrence. Damage fees may vary depending on the severity of the damage.
  • After firing is complete, all pieces are held for a maximum of 14 days; any abandoned pieces are subject to disposal.
  • The owner must mark or label their pieces for easy identification or take a photo of the pieces prior to drop-off for identification after firing.
  • Breakages occur from time to time due to human error, no compensation will be given if such an event occurs.
  • Maker Cube is not responsible for any defects that may occur in the kiln such as crazing, crawling, plucking, dunting, and so on.

Agreement
By dropping pieces, you agree to the terms and disclaimer; Maker Cube is not liable for any losses.

Firing Schedule

  • Typical communal firing schedule is every other Friday (Thursday evening cutoff for drop-off), alternativing glaze and bisque.
  • Additional firings may be added based on demand.
  • Schedule may be pushed back if there are insufficient pieces.

Pick-up Information

  • Item pick-up during regular business hours only. 12pm-9pm on weekdays or 10am-6pm on weekends.
  • Unclaimed items after 14 days may be disposed of due to limited storage space.
